At the end of the war Elias Cady was married in a church in Providence, Rhode Island, to Olive Baker.
The family moved to Utica, New York, where Olive died in 1838. Elias came with his son, Seth B., to Holly, Michigan. Elias died at the home of this same son at Genesee County and was buried in Oak Hill cemetery, two miles northwest of Holly. He was a pensioner.
Olive had previously been marked as the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Hale) Baker of Keene, New Hampshire. This is not believed to be correct, as the History of Keene (1904), p. 559, states that their daughter Olive married Joshua Prime of Swanzey, New Hampshire. The validity of this assertion is confirmed in the History of Swanzey (1892), p. 423, which states that Joshua Jewett Prime married Olive Baker, daughter of Thomas of Keene. Swanzey history lists her death date as March 13, 1826
