During the French Revolution 1789-1794 the Jacobin Party put forth very effort to depose Christianity. In those bloody days for a period of five years the test of loyalty to the Church was a matter of life and death for the Christian Of interest from his period in the history of the Baker family the descendents of Ludwig Becker, the following story has been related by those who lived during his life span.

Ludwig Becker at the time of this war was the Major of the Village of Herbesheim, ten miles from the city of Metz which was the capitol of Alsace, ten a French Province.

Ludwig Becker's occupation was hauling freight from one large city to another. He later took up farming and was accidentally killed in 1821.
