Biography

Edward Baker was born in 1821 in Durrington, Wiltshire, England to Levi Baker and Jane (Smith) Baker - he was christened on 29 Apr 1821 in Durrington.[1]

In 1841 Edward Baker (age 20-24) lived in Durrington with his father Levi (60-64, Ag Lab), mother Jane (50-54), and six siblings: Ann (20-24), Samuel (16), Susannah (15), David (11), Thomas (6), and Mary (3), as well as aunt Cecilia Smith (30-34).[2]

Edward Baker married Sarah Sopp in 1851. The marriage was registered in Amesbury, Wiltshire in the first quarter of the year.[3]

Edward and Sarah had three children:

  1. Mary Jane Baker (1852-)
  2. Ellen Baker (1857-)
  3. William James Baker (1865-)

In 1851 Edward Baker (age 30, Groom) lived in Durrington with his wife Sarah (25).[4]

In 1861 Edward Baker (age 40, Groom) lived in Durrington with his wife Sarah (34, Grooms Wife) and two daughters: Mary Jane (8, Scholar) and Ellen (3, Scholar).[5]

In 1871 Edward Baker (age 48, Groom) lived in Figheldean, Wiltshire with his wife Sarah (45), daughter Ellen (13, Scholar), and son William (6, Scholar).[6]

In 1881 Edward Baker (age 59, General Servant) lived at Maddington Street in Maddington, Wiltshire with his wife Sarah (54) and son William J (16, General Servant).[7]

Edward Baker passed away in 1887, aged 66 years. His death was registered in Amesbury in the third quarter of the year.[8]
