Research Notes
In Spring 2004 in the Newsletter of the Genealogical Society of Page County, Virginia,[10]Manson Eugene Baker (2x great grandson of Samuel Baker) made the following statement:
"I believe the children of Philip Becker/Baker (born possibly 1 May 1718 in Germany and whose will was probated c1781) and Catherine Gramm were Jacob (1753-1821); John (1754-1830); Daniel (17??-1846); Rudolph (dates unknown); Henry (dates unknown) Martin (1769 or 1770 - c1857); Samuel (1770-1842) - my ancestor; Phillip (c1776-I828); Conrad (dates unknown); and Elizabeth (dates unknown) married George Ransbarger c7 April 1796).
I descend from Samuel who married Barbara Shirley in Rockingham County. Samuel owned property in what was then Indiana Territory until 1807 at which time he sold the farm and began his move to these Indian lands."
