Ruth Baker was born about 1765 in Lincoln, North Carolina, daughter of Charles Baker (~1716–1786) and Margaret Unknown (1722–1786).

Ruth married Mathias Bovey (born about 1754; son of Conrad Bovey and Mary Magdalene (Magdalene) Bovey). Their children were:

Ruth died about December 21, 1859 in Catawba, North Carolina, United States, aged about 93. She was buried in Old Saint Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina.[1]
