Christine Baker was born Aug. 3, 1906 in Selbyville, Sussex County, Delaware, 2nd daughter of Ed Baker and Sallie Long.
In 1928 she graduated in a class of 45 from college, the Women's College at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, as did her sister Helen before her, an unusual accomplishment for a woman at that time. She received a BS degree in home economics and taught that subject in Selbyville High School before and after her marriage and again after her children were in school. After retirement from teaching, she served as a social worker for 10 years in Georgetown, Delaware for the State of Delaware Department of Health & Social Services.
She married Harold Burl Adams on November 26, 1936, in Dover, Delaware. (Father: Edward V. Baker, Mother: Sallie M. Baker; Spouse: Harold Burl Adams Film Number: 002025109 [1]. They were parents of 3 children: Marjorie, MaryHelen and Thomas Burl.
"Mrs. Adams was a lifelong and very active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville, a 50-year member and past president (1970-1972) of the Selbyville Community Club, and a member and former officer of the Delaware State Federation of Women's Clubs. She was a member of the Hoornkill Chapter of the National Association of the Daughters of the American Colonists." [2]. She was also a member of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and delighted in her lifetime pursuit of family genealogy done the traditional way, before computers. [3]
Christine B. Adams died Oct. 15, 2005, age 99, at the Seaford Retirement & Rehabilitation Center in Seaford, Delaware. She was buried in Selbyville Red Men's Cemetery, Selbyville, Sussex County Delaware.[4]

Her son, Lt. Thomas B. Adams, was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968; her husband, H. Burl Adams, died in 1989; and she was preceded in death by her parents, Edward V. and Sallie Long Baker. Rev. Dr. Bruce Cooke will conduct the funeral service at 11 am on Friday, October 21, at Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville. Interment will be in Redmen's Cemetery in Selbyville.
