Biography

William was born in 1842, the son of George Baker and Florilla Olmstead.

Birth

From William's obituary (found on his Find A Grave memorial), he was born the week of March 30, 1842. While he lived with his parents, his place of birth was reported as Upper Canada and Canada West, both of which indicate the current province of Ontario. However, from the 1870 Census on, he reports his place of birth as New York. No birth record has been found.

Marriage

William was married to Charlotte Shamiour, sometime between 1861 and 1865. They had somewhere between 12 and 15 children.

7. Nada, born in 1878, married Unknown Taylor, was widowed, married H.H. Cross in 1906, died in 1932
8. Fred, born August 22, 1879, married Jennie in 1919, died in 1926
9. Sarah Sadie Vivian, born in 1882, died in 1969
10. Myrtle Louise, born in 1883, married James Hare, died in 1958
11. Alvin Roy, born in 1886, married Alice Mae Eikamp in 1910
12. Frances Fannie Isabel, born February 12, 1888, the fifteenth child of Charlotte, died in 1972

Death

William died in Illinois on March 30, 1909. His obituary can be seen on his Find A Grave memorial.

William and Charlotte were buried at Rockton Township Cemetery, in Rockton, Illinois.
