Anthony served in the Pennsylvania Loyalists and Delancey's Brigade, New York, during the American Revolution. After the peace, Anthony Baker, farmer from New York, joined the exodus from New York City to St. John, New Brunswick, aboard the ship "Hope" in the "Spring Fleet" of 1783. With him were his wife, 2 children aged over 10 years and 3 under 10 years. The first two over 10 would be Eleazor and Elizabeth. The three under 10 would be Hannah, Jonathan and Anthony.
Anthony settled at Jemseg, Queens County, New Brunswick, across the St. John River from Gagetown. In 1794, he moved to Hampton, Kings Co, NB. Anthony Baker received a land grant of 330 acres in Northampton, York County just North of Woodstock, N.B. & moved with his family there.
Anthony Baker Sr. became the commissioner of highways for the Parish of Wakefield in January, 1804 & Arden Dickinson was named as constable & collector of rates.
