Ellen Augusta Baker was born on 13 March 1836 and was baptised Wesleyan on 17 April 1836 in Sandhurst, Kent, England [1], the daughter of George Baker and Charlotte Coleman and was the sister of Mary Anne York (Baker) Smith, Martha (Baker) Nesbitt, Alfred George Baker, Albert Baker, Allan Baker, William Alexander Baker, Sabina Jane (Baker) Fuller, John Baker and George Baker.
Ellen left London with her parents and siblings aboard the ship "Augusta Jessie", which arrived at Sydney on 11 October 1837. Sadly, her twin brother Allan died while on the journey. The family arrived in New South Wales with her parents [2][3].
She married George Thomas Hartnup on 27 March 1860 at Hartley, New South Wales, Australia [4].
Ellen died on 13 November 1923 in Ryde, New South Wales, Australia [5] and she was buried in the Methodist Cemetery, Field of Mars, New South Wales, Australia [6].
