DNA evidence links George "Bacon" Baker (my earliest known paternal ancestor) with Rev Thomas Baker (1638-1710). Through family names and locations, we believe the "missing link" is James Baker through his son George, but I now believe James himself is George "Bacon"s father (since wife Penelope died in 1710, George Sr likely died in 1706, James remarried Mercy Berry in 1733). Born to Mercy out of wedlock? I also believe George was born in Rhode Island around 1734, and the 1730 MA date and place belong to another George Baker (all Rev Thomas DNA Bakers of that era are Rhode Islanders). Taking "Bacon" off George Baker site (I believe this is a misreading of 1766 Vermont petition to King signature). The "Bacon" in George "Bacon" Baker may be due to the fact that in some early records some Bakers were given the surname "Bacor", which could easily be mis-transcribed as "Bacon". I suggest that his name was plain George Baker.

Hi Larry, I see you had some test over to Family Tree DNA. I had my uncle, Nathan Channing Baker do a ydna and a FamilyFinder over there. I also did the FF over there. Carole Alden
