Thomas Hawkins married Mary Balcomb by banns in Ticehurst, Sussex on 4, 11 & 18 November 1781.[1][2]
Mary Hawkins died in the Battle district during 1838, aged 74.[3]
Research Notes
With a 1781 marriage, it is likely that Mary was born before 1764 (so she would have been at least 17 years old at the time of marriage). The marriage of John Balcomb & Ann Tickner was in Ticehurst during 1765 so they are unlikely to be the parents.
Mary Balcomb baptised in Burwash, Sussex on 24 Feb 1764 to Richard Balcomb (of Heathfield) & Elizabeth Fuller.[4][5]
Mary Bolcoms, baptised in Ticehurst, Sussex on 25 April 1764 to Richard Bolcoms & Mary Eldridge[6][7][8]
Mary Bahlcomb, baptised in Herstmonceux, Sussex on 29 May 1763 to John Balcomb & Sarah.[9]
Having her oldest son named Richard would support the first two baptisms, the Ticehurst baptism would seem more likely as that was the location of the marriage and husband Thomas was not from Ticehurst.
