Son [John S.M. Baldwin] died thirty years ago [from 1875 equals 1840,
but he is on the Census of Bibb in 1840 and the marriage in 1840 to Eliza
McLaren and his son is born 1841] in Macon, Ga., leaving a wife, and a
son Mclaren; in 1875, of Greenville, Merriwether county, Ga.
In The Macon Telegraph dated May 7, 1827 there was this announcement:
Land Lottery, Houston county. Ga. John Baldwin's orps 16 28 1 [Lot 16,
District 28, 1-code for Lee county, this parcel is located in present
Sumter county just north of Line Creek near the Flint river.]
In The Macon Telegraph dated Nov. 14, 1832; Will be sold on the first
Tuesday in January next, at the court house in Perry, Huston county,
all the real estate of John Baldwin, deceased, for the benefit of the
minors of said deceased. Also on the first Thursday in January nest, at
the court house in Lee county, all the real estate of said deceased, lying
in Lee county; for the benefit of the heirs of said deceased. Terms 12
months, for approved paper. John S.M. Baldwin, Ex'or, Nov. 14, 1832.

From The Macon Telegraph dated April 2, 1827:
BRIGADE ORDERS
HEAD QUARTERS, Ist Brig., 8th Div., G.M.}
Macon, March 26, 1839}
AN Election is hereby ordered to be held at the several election precincts
within the limits of the 1st Battalion of the 50th Regiment, G. M. on the 20th
day of April for a Lieutenant Colonel to the said Battalion, vice John S. M. Baldwin, promoted.
Also ordered, That an election will be held on the 27th of April, at the several election precincts within the limits of the 2nd Battalion, of the 50th Regiment, G. M., for a Major to said Battalion, vice Wm. Wadsworth, resigned. Each election with the superintendence and in the manner prescribed by law.
Captains in each Battalion shall give twenty days public notice of the time and place of holding said election.
Col. John S. M. Baldwin will select the Captains for that duty, and will report the result of the election to the Brigadier General first Brigade
