James Baldwin was born in Connecticut.

James, the son of John Baldwin and Mary Adams was born on May 24, 1735 at Canterbury, Connecticut Colony. [1] [2]

James married Thankful Clark on November 8, 1736 at Canterbury, Connecticut. [3] [1] [4] His wife Thankful Thankful was born on November 8, 1736, at Norwich, Connecticut, daughter of Thomas Clark and Sarah Woodward. [5]

They had one child born at Canterbury:

  1. Elisha Baldwin born on March 13, 1759 [1] [6]; d. 31 Dec 1835, Brutus, NY); married. 1793 Charlotte Davenport.

James died on November 9, 1761 in his 26th year at Canterbury, Connecticut Colony. [1] [7]

His widow Thankful married second Joseph Baldwin, son of Timothy and Susannah (Frost) Baldwin on June 1, 1763 at Canterbury, Connecticut. [1]
