Revolutionary War Service

While there is a legacy record in the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) database for a Samuel Baldwin, who fits the birth and death demographics of this persona, it is difficult to determine if the service records during the Revolutionary War are for Samuel Sr. (this record) or his son, Samuel Jr. Based on the age of Samuel Sr., he may not have put himself in harm's way during the conflict, and none of the seen biographies of him state that he was a combatant during the Revolutionary War. There is no record for him in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) database. In the Connecticut Men of the Revolution book [1] there are nine or ten references to "Samuel Baldwin," but there is no way to determine if that Samuel is "this" Samuel.

However, on Page 621 of the book it shows a "Lieutenant Samuel Baldwin" from May-Jun 1777, and also listed is a "Private Saml. Baldwin" in the same unit of "A PAY ROLL OF CAPT. ABRAHAM FOOT'S COMPANY OF MILITIA IN COL. ANDREW WARD'S REGIMENT." Thus, there is a potential that he did in fact serve, probably as a Lieutenant in the war. Also, the DAR database shows a Patriot "Private Samuel Baldwin" (1755-1838) [2] who is the son of Samuel Sr. Thus, the odds of Pvt. Samuel Baldwin Jr. being assigned to a unit with someone other than his father (who is shown in a company leadership position) is pretty small.

Parmalee-41 and Baldwin-2047 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, same birth and death dates and places. Father's name was Baldwin and birth doesn't seem to be out of wedlock, hence, Baldwin is LNAB.
