He married, as his first wife, Abigail Gunn, daughter of Samuel & Sarah (Clark) Gunn at New Haven, CT - after the death of Abigail, he married Phebe Beers, daughter of Benjamin & Ann (Northrop) Beers - their children were Abigail, Elihu, David, Samuel, a second Elihu, Elizabeth, Phebe & Mary Ann
