Children:
Edmund Ball, senior, Yeoman, was buried on 04 Nov 1698 at Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire.[3]
His wife was presumably the Mary Ball, widow, who was buried on 06 May 1712 at Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire.[4]
The will of Edmund Ball of Broad Blunsdon, Yeoman, was made on 27 Dec 1710 and proved on 20 Feb 1711/1712.[1] He appointed his mother Mary Ball as Guardian to his eldest son Edmund during his minority and he devised to his mother all his Messuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever (not settled in jointure upon his late wife).
He also bequeathed to his Mother a Mortgage lately made to him of certain Lands and Tenements lying in the parish of Castle Eaton and all other his mortgages and securities.
He recommended his children to his mother’s care and desired her to provide for their education, maintenance and portions.
In her will made on 21 Apr 1712 and proved on 06 May 1730 at Highworth, Wiltshire[2], she was recorded as Mary Ball of Broad Blunsdon, widow. She stated that she was a devisee of the last will of her said son (Edmund) entitled to a mortgage lately made to him of certain lands and tenements lying in the parish of Castle Eaton, Wiltshire, for payment of three hundred and six pounds and sixteen shillings or thereabouts with interest. She devised the mortgage to her nephew Robert Benjamin and he should with all convenient speed call in and receive the said mortgage monies and in the first place pay and satisfy all her debts and the debts of her son and afterwards shall use the overplus towards the maintenance and education of her Grandchildren Alexander Ball and Mary Ball and for the placing them out of apprentices or otherwise.
She devised to her Grandson Edmund Ball her messuages and tenements with the appurtenances lying within the parish of Calne in the County of Wiltshire and to her Grandson Alexander all her messuages and tenements with the appurtenances lying in Goosey, Berkshire.
Her nephew Robert Benjamin was appointed Trustee.
The Inventory of her goods and chattels (including the mortgage noted above) was taken on the 13 May 1712 and was valued at £380 19s 6d.
An Edmund Baal was baptised 11 Feb 1646/1647 at Bremhill, Wiltshire, son of William and Jane.[5] At this time there is no specific evidence that links this baptism with the Edmund ball of Broad Blunsdon.
