John Ball was the son of John Ball and Agnes Holloway, according to the Ball family pedigree in the Visitation of London.[1] Walne considered his mother to be John's other wife Alice Haynes.[2]
He is estimate here as born in 1548, likely in the family estate in Wokingham, Berkshire, England. However no source is identified for this.
John inherited the family estate when his father died in 1599.[1][2]
John Ball married Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Webb of Ruscombe, Berkshire.[2] They had five sons and six daughters: William, Thomas, George, Richard & Samuel; Rachel, Elizabeth, Susan, Als, Dorothy & Mary.[2][1]
John apparently died in 1628, presumably in Wokingham, Berkshire, England.[1] However Walne indicates there is no trace of his will nor of his burial at Wokingham.[2]
A monograph by Mary Ball Washington apparently indicates the following dates for their children:[3]
Note that son William is considered in some family trees to be father to Colonel William of Millenbeck, immigrant to Virginia, and in turn to the US president George Washington. However see Walne for some discussion of that link as of 1959.[2]
