Ellen (known as Nellie) was the daughter of Richard Ball and Mary Maria Body of Blenheim. She married the 2nd son of Capt Robert Priddle and Margaret Woodbine, Ernest Alfred John Priddle. The marriage took place at Blenheim's Nativity church in 1901. Nine children were raised in the Priddle household. Four years after Ernests' death in 1942, Ellen, now 67, remarried to Gordon Hale Sowman in 1946. Gordon was a hairdresser and tobacconist and also a keen poultry fancier. His hairdressing salon was next to the Masonic Hotel in Blenheim. Ellen died in 1955 age 76 and is buried at Omaka cemetery with Ernest. [1][2]
