William H. Burnett is mentioned as the great-grandson of Abner Ball in Proceedings of the New Jersey Historical Society, p 245. [1] It does not say who his parents and grandparents were, but it is obvious that his grandparents were Elizabeth and Samuel Burnett.

Elizabeth was born in 1783. She passed away in 1845.

Burial Northfield Baptist Cemetery, Livingston, New Jersey. Tombstone reads: Sacred to the memory of Betsey C. daughter of Abner and Rachel Ball, and wife of Samuel Burnet, who Died February 23, 1845. Age 61 years, 9 mos, and 26 days. She was greatly beloved, and respected in life. Married on January 27, 1782.

Your spelling of the name Burnett is WRONG! Samuel Burnet the 4th Born: 21 April 1783 Died: September 3, 1865. Was 82 yrs. 5 mos. and 12 days. 1st wife, Elizabeth 'Betsey' Clark Ball Born: 28 April 1783, Died: 23 February 1845 was 61 yrs. 9 mos. and 26 days. Both died in Northfield, Livingston, Essex Co. New Jersey and both are buried in the Northfield Baptist Cemetery. Your line may have changed the T's but our line never did. Please don't continue your mistakes on our line. Barbara

My husband's family come from the Leys of Scotland and we have always used the one T. We also pronounce the last name as "BURN-IT". There is a "Burnet Hill School" in Livingston, Essex County, New Jersey that is pronounced and spelled the same way. Barbara
