Biography
Jane was born in 1799. She is the oldest known child of William Ballinger and Charity Wade, who were born in Virginia.[1] Multiple times in the census records, she lists Virginia as birthplace. Her younger brother said he was born in Virginia.
In 1820, she married Archibald Sexton in Whitley Co, KY.[2] Whitley County is in the eastern part of the state where it borders Tennessee.
In 1850, the family has migrated to Rockcastle County, which is closer to central Kentucky.[3]

In the 1860 Census, the couple lives with their seventeen-year old son Archibald, Jr. A 20-year-old teacher named M. A. Hart lives with them on the farm.[4]
By the 1880 US Census, the 80-year-old couple have returned to Rockcastle Co. He lists himself as a wagon maker. [5]
Family records show she died 19 Oct 1880 at the age of 81 in Rockcastle Co, KY. It is not know where she is buried but likely in a small family cemetery.
Research Notes
Her brothers also lived in Rockcastle County. The family must have migrated from Whitley County at the same time. As far as I could tell, none of Arch's brothers followed him to Rockcastle Co.
There is a couple who matches their description living in Jefferson, Indiana in the 1870s. The husband, Archibald, has work as a distiller while the 71-year-old Jane keeps house. [6] There was one other Archibald Sexton's running around the area - so possible it is him.
