Why all these children to Ralph and Alice? Yet they only had a son named Thomas and he’s not even mentioned on here? The start of this biography states only child was Thomas so what happened to Thomas? Some problems here I feel.

Working on it. Don't know where the statement that Thomas was the only son comes from, but Ralph of Chellaston definitely had several children. Not Katherine or William, though. Nor can I see a Thomas. To say there are problems with the Bancrofts on WikiTree is an understatement!

Thanks Stephen. I asked because my mother is a Bancroft and I had lots of names on ancestry with many connections with names Cooper, Bancroft Thompson, Humphrey. A document saying that Ralph and Alice had a son Thomas who married a Rebecca?

That would be this Thomas: Bancroft-44 - who I think has the wrong father at present, but who the correct one is I've not yet worked out. Rebecca seems to have been Widow Errington, hence the uncertainty over her name. Several of the children are clearly incorrect. More problems!

The biography states Ralph's only child was Thomas. The three children listed are all born before his marriage; the daughters when he was 0 and 2 years old. Sisters Katherine and Margaret are mentioned in the wills of both Thomas Bancroft of Chellaston (1629) and Thomas Bancroft of Swarkestone (1626), but without specifying a relationship.
