Research Notes
Link is broken to the Ancestry Family Tree in the sources. Other Ancestry Family Trees give her birth in 1765. Different trees have different mothers, all named Mary, but with different maiden names. Also, Ancestry has transcribed court records from 1794 in Chatham County, North Carolina where Patty Pitts and several of her siblings sued Gray Barbee, her brother and executor of her father's estate (who died in 1773). Further research in Chatham County records will likely shed more light on this family.
