Biography

Dorothy Barclay was born on 27 Aug 1901 in Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, USA to George Barclay and Janette (Wilson) Barclay.

In 1910 Dorothy Barkley (age 8) lived in Kiskiminetas with her father George (38, Engineer Stationary Engine), mother Jeanette (32), and four brothers: George (10), Lewis (6), Robert (4), and Boyde (2).[1]

Dorothy Barcly (age 24, daughter of George Barcly, born Scotland, and Jennet Barcly, American) and Walter E Booth (age 28, son of E?? Booth & Lottie Booth, both born in Delaware) were married on 9 Nov 1929 in Hartley, Kent County, Delaware - the witnesses were Lena Scotton & Mary E Dodd.[3]

Dorothy and Walter had at least six children:

  1. Betty May Booth (1930-1932)

  3. Russell Booth (c1935-)
  4. Henry John Booth (c1937-)
  5. Walter Booth (c1939-)
  6. Phyllis Ann Booth (c1940-)

Another son is listed on the 1940 census, but he was born before they married - was he adopted? Was he born out of wedlock? Was he actually their nephew rather than a son? Where was he on the 1930 census?:

  1. Lauder Booth (1926-2000)

In 1930 Dorothy Booth (age 24) lived in the 4th Representative District, Kent County, Delaware with her husband Walter (28, Laborer Road Construction) and grandfather-in-law Levin Booth (77).[4]

Dorothy's husband passed away in 1979.

Dorothy Booth, born 27 Aug 1901, passed away on 5 Sep 1983 in Earleville, Cecil County, Maryland.[6] She is buried at Templeville Cemetery in Templeville, Caroline County, Maryland.[7]
