Biography

Samuel was born in 1726. Samuel is the child of a John Barclay and Margaret Ker. [1]

Research Notes

Samuel's father has previously been shown on WikiTree as John Barclay of Ury d.1731. This stemmed from a presupposition that it was this John Barclay who married his mother Margaret Ker. There is no evidence for this relationship. A Y-DNA exercise completed October 2020 shows that this John Barclay of Ury was not the father of Margaret Ker's sons. In addition Douglas Richardson gives only one marriage for him, to Katherine LNAB Unknown, and names just one son, John.[2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:

I have detached John Barclay of Ury d.1731, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Barclay-168, as father. See research note and research note on mother Margaret Ker's profile.
