William Fawkner Falconer Barclay was born in 1833 in Rincardineshire, Scotland.[citation needed]
William was an Able Seaman on the Vibilia, discharged from service at Victoria on 7 May 1859.[1]
Vibilia, schooner, under Master, McAlpin said to be 121 tons appears on Trove from 1856 to 1860, and, in that period, would appear to be an intercoastal vessel going from Australian port to Australian port primarily carrying cargo.
Initially she made a voyage from England, carrying unassisted passengers, in May of 1853 arriving from London. In September of 1855, she arrives from Wellington, New Zealand. By 1855 she appears to have a regular run carrying coal from Newcastle, NSW to Wellington, NZ, until 1876, when an injunction was issued by the NZ Collector of Customs forbidding her from going out to sea until she has been made seaworthy.
