Clifford was born in 1893. He was the son of Herbert Barclay and Ruth Clapcott.

Clifford enlisted in the New Zealand Army (NZEF) during WW1 and was Killed in Action on the beaches at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli, on the first day of the Allied invasion - 25 April, 1915, age 22 years.

S/No: 6/404, 2nd South Canterbury Company, Canterbury Regiment, NZEF.
