Cornelia BARCLAY. [1]
Born 1750, died 1788. Married Stephen DeLancey.[2][3]
What makes Stephen's marriage to Cornelia particularly interesting is that Stephen's mother Phila Franks came from a well-known Jewish family, whereas Cornelia's father Henry Barclay was a Doctor of Divinity and highly visible Anglican rector from one of the most important churches in Manhattan. Whereas today (2020) this might not seem unusual, in Colonial New York of the 1700s it was much less common to marry outside of one's faith.
