Hey Bridget,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards .

If you need to describe an event, heirloom or a location relevant to your research, try Free Space Profiles .

If you run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving these unfortunate situations.

A project of note is the Global Family Reunion check it out at Global Family Reunion.

Hi!

How are ya? I'm Matty a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well!

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.

Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

And of course I'm here to help, just ask!

Looking forward to building one Tree!
Volunteer Button Bridget. You clicked on the volunteer button indicating that you would like to collaborate and add family information. If that’s correct please leave another comment here on your profile to indicate your willingness to help build the “Tree”, and one of the Greeters will be happy to add you as a member of WikiTree.

If you just want to explore and search for relatives or family information you can do that as a guest without volunteering.

To help you with your search, check out the “Find” button. Clicking the “Matches for family”or the “Surnames” buttons may show you the way to some family info or connections.

In the “Help” area you can post questions in the G2G forum. We have a lot of people who are willing to help. Just ask. Good Luck.

I'm an adoptee, building both my biological and adopted family's trees.
Bridget. I noticed that you uploaded or indicate that you intend to upload a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of our (http://www.geneamusings.com/2013/12/adding-early-seaver-generations-to.html GEDCOM import process) including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:GEDCOMsGEDCOMS). Please keep in mind that our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile.
  • If you intend to upload it, I recommend that you start with about 100 people for your first upload, til you get used to the system. Feel free to contact me or any member if you have any questions!
