Biography

Eliza Barker was born on June 26, 1806 in Knox County, Indiana.[1][1][2]

She married (1st) Isaac Banta on September 25, 1822 in Warrick County, Indiana.[2]His middle name was William.[1] They moved to Texas in 1840. [1][2]

Together they had 13 children:

  1. Henry Wilson Banta (1823-1887)[1] b. Aug 11, 1803, m. Susan Winneford.[2]
  2. Mary Ann Banta Langford (1825-1870)[1] b. July 12, 1825, m. Milton H. Langford on June 22, 1843.[2]
  3. William Banta (1827-1897)[1] b. June 23, 1827. m. Lucinda Hairston.[2]
  4. David Riley Banta (1829-1917)[1] b. April 17, 1829, m. Margaret Keith[2]
  5. Celesteen Banta Gibson (1831-1926)[1] b. July 17, 1831, m. Robert A. Gibson[2]
  6. John Walter Banta (1833-1914)[1] (John) b. Feb 22, 1833, m. Angelina McDonald[2]
  7. Jacob Rhinerson Banta (1835-1866)[1] b. April 27, 1835, m. Clara McDonald[2]

Isaac, her husband, died July 16, 1855 in Burnet County, Texas.[1][2]

Eliza married (2nd) a man named McDonald;[2]Zachariah McDonald on July 12, 1859 in Burnet, Texas.[1]

In 1887 she was living in Centre Point, Texas.[2]In 1900 Eliza was living with the Sellers family.[1]

Eliza Barker, Banta, McDonald died on June 19, 1903.[1]She is buried at San Marcos Cemetery, San Marcos, Hays County, Texas.[1]Her tombstone reads, "All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change come. Thou shall call and I will answer Thee. Thou will have a desire to the work of thy hand. Even so come Lord Jesus, come quickly."[1]
