Sarah was the tenth child of William and Frances and was born at Low Meathop and baptised at Witherslack. She married James Redman on the 30th of December 1830 at Lindale Chaple. James trade was a joiner. The witness at the wedding were her younger sister Margaret and Miles Wilson. Lindale Chaple had just been rebuilt by public subscription. The cost of rebuilding was estimated to be £500 but the final cost was £747. In the account book for the rebuilding there are entries for a James Redman carting sand and stone by a James Redman this could have been James father as he was a builder and James worked for him. They had eight children to their marriage Their first child William Barker Redman died aged 10 January 1842. In the 1841 census they had four of their children plus two apprentices that worked for James living with them. Sarah was buried on the 15th of Febrruary 1867 at Witherslack. James remarried in 1870 he married Elizabeth Carter. In the 1851 census they were living at Crag Cottage in Grange with seven of their children. In the 1861 census they were living next door but one to her sister Elizabeth and she had seven of their children living with them.
