Biography

Mary Barker b. 7 Sep 1765 Branford Twp, New Haven, Conneticut^[1] - 20 Mar 1826 OH) was the daughter of William Barker III and Mary YALE.

She married Dr. Daniel HOUGH, Jr^[2] (2 Nov 1763 Wallingford Twp, New Haven, Connecticut^[3] - 8 Sep 1803 Charlotte, Vermont^[4]) the son of Daniel Hough and Violet Benton of Connecticut.

They moved to Charlotte, VT before 1790.

Children Include:

1. Sylvester (19 June 1785 Meriden CT - 28 Feb 1836 Galena, Delaware Co, OH) on 1 May 1806 md Sarah WILLIAMS (15 Jan 1786 Litchfield CT - 1 Oct 1868 Galena, OH), dau of John and Joanna (TAYLOR) WILLIAMS, and moved to Delaward Co, OH in 1812. Sylvester was Justice of the Peace and a successful farmer. Ch incl William; Orsamus Daniel; Charles Sylvester; Mary Ann; Sarah Cecelia; Hannah Marilla; Sophronia; Sanford; Homer; Laura Sophronia; Sylvester Barker; Clarissa Almira; and Rhoda Adella Lee.
2. Daniel ( - 5 Nov 1849 OH) was a medical doctor who md Sophronia SHELDON. Ch incl George Daniel and Sarah.
3. Polly (c 1790 VT - 1 Oct 1803 VT).
4. Sally c 1792 VT - 27 Sep 1803 VT).
5. Hannah (c 1795 VT - 9 Jan 1866 VT) md Ebenezer COPELAND of Delaware Co, OH.

If there were other ch, their names have not been recovered. The records makes one suspect that Daniel and his two daughters were victims of an epidemic.

Widow Mary HOUGH md (2) Levi FOOTE and move with him to Delaware Co, OH.

Notes:

• 1780 Daniel Hough of Wallingford served in the 4th Regt, CT Line from June 25 until Dec 11.

• 1786 Ira Allen of VT sold Daniel Hough land for 160 pounds on 23 May 1786. Later Daniel Hough was listed as a doctor.

• 1790^[5] Charlotte, Chittenden, Vermont, , Daniel Huff 2-2-3

• 1800^[6]: Charlotte, Chittenden, Vermont, Daniel Hough 02010-21110

• In 1810, Sylvester HOUGH seems to have been head of the HOUGH hh in VT.
