Biography

Caleb Barker, son of William Barker and Amie Wood, was born in Dartmouth, Bristol, Province of Massachusetts Bay, 6 Apr 1760.[2] Settled by Europeans in about 1652 and named for the town of the same name in Devon, England, the town of Dartmouth hugs the southern coast of modern Massachusetts, bordered on the north by Fall River, east by New Bedford, west by Westport and south by Buzzard's Bay.[3]

Caleb married, in Dartmouth, 2 Dec 1795, Sarah Eddy of Dartmouth, daughter of Zephaniah Eddy and Anne Wood.[6] Caleb and Sarah were granted a certificate to the Easton monthly meeting] from the Dartmouth monthly meeting on 17 of 3 mo. 1800 [17 Mar 1800].[7] They were accompanied by their children William and Job.[7]

Caleb died in Granville, Washington County, New York, 2 May 1850, at age 90.[8] He's buried in Green Meeting House Cemetery on Quaker Street in Granville.[8] He was survived by his wife, Sarah, who died in Granville, 21 Mar 1857, at age 82, and is buried beside him.[9]
