Biography

Thomas Barker was baptised at Hopton Castle, Shropshire on 5 Jan 1550. [1]

The Visitation of Shropshire stated that he was a "doctor of Physick" in London and that he died in 1617. [2] It noted that his wife was Ann Lloyd and they they had children William and Margaret.

Thomas Barker wrote his will on April 27 1617. [3]

In the name of God Amen, I Thomas Barker of Kingston upon Thames beinge weake in boddie but of perfect memorie doe make and ordayne this my last will and Testament in writinge as followe the, First I bequeath my soule into the hands of God Atlmightie humbly beseeching him for the passion and mirritts of Jesus Christ to accept the same, And my body to be buried accordinge as my Executor shall thinke fitt, Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Margaret Doughty wife of Francs Doughty of Bristown the some of Tenn poundes to be paid her w[i]thin three monethes after my decease And the remaynder of my estate whatsoever I give and bequeath to my Derely beloved sonne William Barker whom I make sole Executor. I adjusted birth yr to 1550 to fit into bp I just found and entered into notes with the source.

The 1623 visitation of Shropshire states that "Thomas Barker of London, doctor of phisike, ob. Ao. 1617, 2nd sonne of William Barker of Hopton Castle and Mary, sister and heire to William Titteley in com. Salop" married "Anne da. to Tho. Lloyd of Munmuthshr." It lists their children as "William Barker of London, doctor of Fisticke & now in Shropshr. Ao. 1623" and "Margaret wiffe to Frauncis Doughty."
