Biography

Eliza was the sixth child and she was largely brought up with her cousin Louisa Egremont. She was a great beauty and she went out to Malta where she married Robert St John, a grandson of the 3rd Viscount St John and Lady Diana Spencer, daughter of the 3rd Duke of Marlborough.

Eliza became a great favourite of the Governor, Sir Thomas Maitland, and for her sake he arranged for her husband to become Consul-General in Algiers.

Eliza and Robert had children.
