Lieut. John was the son of John and Abigail (Lockwood) Barlow

He married as her second husband, Ruth (Sherwood) Holcomb, daughter of Thomas and Alice (Seabrook) Sherwood, about 1692 at Fairfield, Fairfield, Connecticut Colony - parents of John, Mary, Samuel, William, Abigail, Ann, Joseph, Francis, Sarah, Deborah and Elizabeth Fellows Barlow
