Biography

Clara Barnaby, born about 1890 in Wisconsin or Michigan, was the daughter of Nelson Barnaby and Zena French. She married Matti (Mathieux?) Gardner, an Ottawa-born laborer, in 1909 in British Columbia.^[1] In the 1910 United States Census, they were recorded living in Bryant, Washington.^[2]

She married Douglas Sutherland in 1914. ^[3] In the Census of Canada, 1931, they lived in Prince Rupert, B.C., where Clara worked as a hairdresser.^[4]

She died in 1971^[5] and was buried at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Surrey, British Columbia.^[6]
