John Barnes, son of Deacon John and Hannah Barnes, b. 23 Mar 1716, Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts. [1][2]

John married 1st Elizabeth Cranson (Cranston), 6 Dec 1738, Sudbury, Middlesex county, Massachusetts. [3] Elizabeth was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Cranston. Children of John and Elizabeth Barns all born in Marlborough:

  • "Dea. John Barns (Barnes) d. 5 Apr 1752, age 86 years" (b. abt 1664/6 Comment: son of Thomas Barnes, also known as John Barnes Jr. in the town records although he was the son of Thomas Barnes (b. 1636, England).
  • "John Barnes d. 3 Jul 1794" (Comment: he was born 1716, and was the son of Dea. John Barnes)6

Barnes-1438 and Barns-49 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicates. Majority of records support Barns as surname, however Barnes was also accepted as an alternate per DAR and SAR.
Please check dates. It appears they died before birth. Possibly just a typo. Thank you
