Biography

Charles was born on September 19, 1845, in Galena, Jo Daviess county, Illinois. He is the son of Christopher Barnes and Rosamund Gaither.

He died on October 15, 1915, in Beaver, Boone county, Iowa, as the result of being kicked by a horse. He is buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden, Boone county, Iowa. A memorial can be found on Find A Grave.

1850 - U.S. Federal Census - In 1850, Chistopher is listed as Chris Copher Barnes, 31, in Galena, Jo Daviess County, Illinois. Also listed in the Ancestry indexed family are Minerva Copher Barnes, 30; William Copher Barnes, 9; Albin Copher Barnes, Theodore Copher Barnes, 2. Also living with the family are Jane Williams 21, and William Williams 5. (If you take a look at the actual page - the Copher should not have been added to the other names.)[1]

1860 - U.S. Federal Census - By 1860, Minerva Gaither Barnes has died and the family is living in West Point, Stephenson County, Illinois. They are enumerated as Cris Barns, 42; W.G. Barns, 18; C.A. Barns, 14; Thos. Barns, 11; M.M. Barns, 9 and Rachael Low, 29. Low is enumerated as "keeping house".[2]

1880 - U.S. Federal Census - Listed as Albert, 34, and the head of household, Living with his brother. Theadore. in Marcy Township in Boone County, Iowa. Both are described as farmers.[3]

August 31, 1893 - Marriage - Boone, Iowa.

October 15, 1915 - Death - Beaver, Boone county, Iowa.
