Biography

Matthew was born about 1606. He arrived in Braintree, Norfolk, Massachusetts in approximately 1640. His occupation was miller[3].

  • 1650/1: Feb. 20: Owned part of the water mills. [1]
  • 1656/7: March 7: Matthew and wife Rebecca lands to the mill ponds. [1]
  • 1653: March 14: He was one of the surveyors of highways at Boston. [1] (p. 333)[5]
  • 1658: Matthew deeds to John Cunny lands from the sea to the mill ponds. [1]
  • 1659: Oct. 19: Matthew lets house, garden and lands to Robert Nash. [1]
  • 1659: Nov. 20: Matthew and wife Elizabeth, deed land to William Talbot. [1]
  • 1660: March 5: Matthew deeds part of the tide water mill, 3 mills, dams, etc. to Thomas Clarke. [1]
  • 1660: Oct. 18: Matthew Barnes of Boston, and wife Elizabeth, deed house and land to William Whitwell. [1]
