When Martin Barnes was born on March 19, 1799, in Wolcott, Connecticut, his father, William Barnes, was 32 and his mother, Thede Miner, was 33. He married Lucilla Root on December 5, 1822. He died on August 16, 1877, in Southampton, Massachusetts, having lived a long life of 78 years.
