Jonathan Barnes, son of John Barnes and Mary Plummer his wife was born about 1643. "Savage claims a birthdate of 3 June 1643, but the evidence for this is not seen."[1]

Mr Jonathan Barns Deceased on the 20th of August 1714 being Entered into ye 71st yeare of his life.[3]

The wiil of Jonathan Barns of Plimouth in the County of Plimouth in New England was dated 27 June 1714. After a typical preamble, Jonathan divided his estate, making provision for his wife Elizabeth and sons John, William, and Jonathan Barnes, daughter Mary Carver, daughters Lydia, Elizabeth, Sarah and Esther, and children of his daughter Hannah, deceased, viz. Mercy, Samuel and Ebenezer Rider. He ensures that his real estate remains in the hands of his sons and that they pay their sisters for the value of said real estate. He named his wife executrix and signed by mark. The will was proved 24 Dec 1714.[4]

His inventory was taken on 1 June 1716 in Plymouth.[5]
