Note: He was one of the original members of the Wolcott Church on 18 Nov 1773. In Wolcott Cong Ch Rec 1:19 there are 4 entries in a row in 1796 in the death column that say "a child of Josiah Barnes".


Probate: Note: The children listed in his distribution were Hannah Scarritt, oldest daughter, Elizabeth Johnson wife of Amos, Sarah Barns the third daughter, and Job Barns, who, "being a minor son of the deceased" got an extra $13.37 to pay for his education. The estate was otherwise divided equally between the four. The administrators, David Scarritt and Solomon Plumb, sold several pieces of his land to settle his estate. (Wolcott LR 4:68, 69, 73).
