DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jimmie by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jimmie:
The Y-DNA test has to be a direct descendant Barnes Male because the Y chromosome only follows father to son.
You could do a mitochondrial test on the X chromosome and hope someone else has tested in that line. Pretty rare odds.
I just wondered if one of my Davidson County Barnes' went to Harnett Co., NC Thanks for uploading to GEDmatch.
Hi Donald, this is my maternal grandmother's line, and I actually just found it through the overwhelming amount of matches on ancestry.com new thrulines. I have not done any dna tests past autosomal, but if I wanted to get the Y-Dna for this line, it would have to be from my brother, or maternal uncle, is that correct? Thanks for reaching out!
