Francis M. Barnes was born Apr 1846 in North Carolina to Joseph Barnes (per census and marriage record).

F. M. Barnes and R. E. A. Hull were married on 30 Jan 1868 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.[1]

The statement in the Lincoln County North Carolina Marriage Record 1851-69 page 75:

I certify that I solemnized the Rites of Matrimony between ... named parties F. M. Barnes son of Jos. Barnes and R. E. A. Hull daughter of Major Hull dec'd on the 30 day of Jan 1868.[2]

In 1870, Francis M. (23) and Rebecca A (29) Barnes resided with their son William P. (age 1) in Lincoln County, North Carolina.[3]

In 1880, Francis (35) and Rebecca E. (35) Barnes resided with son William P. (11) and daughters F. Elizabeth (8) and Georgia A. (3) in Lincoln County, North Carolina.[4]

In 1900, Francis (54, born Apr 1846) and wife Sarah D. (50, born Oct 1849) Barnes resided with Edward E. (18, born Sep 1881) and Curtis (11, born Jun 1888) in Lincoln County, North Carolina. The census stated they had been married 13 years.[5]

Is this Francis Barnes in 1860? In 1860, in Lincoln County, North Carolina, Francis N. Barnes (age 13) resided with Washington (35) and Naomi (35) Hull and John (34) and Sarah C. (33) Davis and children from both families.[7]

His first wife Rebecca Barnes died after the birth of son Edward E. Barnes (born Sep 1881 per 1900 census) and before Francis Barnes married Sarah D. Gladdon on 9 Nov 1886 in Lincoln County, North Carolina (per ancestry record).

The children of Francis and Rebecca were William P., F. (Frankie?) Elizabeth, and Georgia A. Barnes. Francis and Sarah had son James Curtis Barnes.

Frances M. Barnes died after the 1900 census and before the 1920 census when Sarah Barnes was a widow. In 1920, son Curtis Barnes and family resided with his widowed mother Sarrah Barnes (age 71) in Cleveland County, North Carolina.
