Mary Jane Barnes was the daughter of William Barnes and his wife, Mary Carruth, daughter of John Carruth and Mary Brady.

Mrs. Jane (Barnes) McDaniel was born July 3, 1850. Died June 23, 1929, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 20 days.
She was married to James V. McDaniel November 25, 1865. She was the mother of 10 children. Two children preceded her to the great beyond in their infancy. Eight children survive her, three sons, Willie, Marshall, Floyd; and five daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Brock, Mrs. Ellis Alford, Mrs. Ellis Brock, Mrs. Martin Alford and Miss Amanda McDaniel.
In youthful days Sister McDaniel professed faith in Christ and united with Silver Springs Baptist church. Many years ago she moved her membership to Silver Creek where remained until she was called to her reward. Silver Creek church, and the Midway community feel keenly the loss of this good mother in Israel. Her faith and faithfulness have helped others in the Christian walk, and the conflicts of life on earth.
Funeral services were held at Silver Creek Baptist Church by this writer assisted by Rev. J. L. Price. Heaven's blessings upon the sorrowing friends and relatives
