Biography

James Barnes was born in 1781 in Bladen (now Robeson) County, North Carolina, USA.[1][2]

He married Tabitha Hough, or Huff.[1][1]

He appeared on the census of 12 Aug. 1860 in the home of his son, Samuel, at Tyler County, Texas.[3]

James died in 1863 in Mt. Hope, Tyler County, Texas[1] and was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Chester, Tyler County, Texas. His memorial has a photos of his monument, biographical material and links to those of family members.[1]

This James Barnes cannot be son of Josiah and Esther Smith. There was no son James in the probate of either estate.
