John P. Elder, son of David and Molly Phillips, was born in Virginia December 10, 1800, and came to Georgia with his father and mother when her was sever years old. Her grew up to manhood in Georgia and married Susam Barnett. Her father was Secretary of State of Georgia at one time. Their home is at, or near Barnett Shoals, Oconee County.
