Biography

Sanira was born about 1843. Sanira Barnett ... She passed away about 1920. [1]

In 1870, the Metcalf family lived in Hamilton County, Illinois. All members of the household were born in Illinois, except as noted. The family included W.A. Metcalf, 28, a farmer, with $1500 in real estate and $400 in personal estate; his wife, Sanira, 27, born in Tennessee; their children, Sidney, 4; and John, 1. Also, (Sanira’s children from her previous marriage) M.H. Randall, 11, in school and a farm laborer; and Lilly (Millie) Randall, 7, in school.[2]

In 1880, the Metcalf family lived in Tarrant County, Texas. The household included W.R. Metcalf, 38, born in Kentucky, a farmer; his wife Sanira, 38, b. TN; their children, M.R., 18; Millie, 15; S.A. (Sidney), 13, in school; John, 11, in school; Hugh, 7, b. MO; and a daughter, Geo./Keziah?, 2.[3]

In 1920, the Metcalfe family lived at 5635 Vickery Blvd., Dallas, Texas. The household included Sanira M. Metcalfe, 74, a widow, born in Tennessee (parents b. TN), who owned the house without a mortgage; her daughter, Willie A. Metcalfe, 23, single, born in Texas (father b. MO), a city public school teacher; and three of Sanira’s grandchildren: Dorothy G. Howard, 17, b. TX (father b. TX; mother b. Kansas), an insurance company stenographer; (and siblings, whose father was b. IL; mother b. IN) Martha R. Metcalfe, 10, b. TX, in school; and Lew W. Metcalfe, 4, b. TX.[4]

The Metcalf home at 5635 Vickery Blvd., Dallas, Texas, was built in 1918. It is a single story, wood frame, Craftsman style house, with 1797sf, and a deep, covered front porch.[5]
