Biography
Martha was born about 1842. The daughter of Oliver Barrett and Mary Jane Johnson. When she was a little girl, Mattie's family moved from Iowa to Oregon to California, residing in the latter by the late 1850s. Mattie married a Civil War veteran, Parker Simpson Berry, on February 22, 1870 at Rocklin, and they were the parents of two sons, born 1871 and 1877. Widowed in 1880, Mattie married Peter G. Owens on April 7, 1884 at Lincoln. They were the parents of one son, George, born 1886. Mattie passed away at age 85. Martha Barrett ... She passed away about 1892.
