Peter Barry was born 19 September 1862 in L'Avenir, and was baptized the same day. His parents were Frank Barry and Marguerite Verrier, and his godparents were Pierre Verrier and Olive Provencal.[1] Later known as Peter Barry, at age 17 he lived in Sprague, New London, Connecticut.
1880 US Census chart [2]shows Peter's parents were Frank 56, Margaritt 54, His brother Frank 26, Sister Mary 24, and Selina 22. Peter was 17 then. His father worked in Cotton Mills back then, Peter was a laborer and his brother Frank was a carpenter.
On or about 1896 Peter met and married Mary Cavanaugh in Norwalk, Fairfield county, Connecticut; and in 1898 had a son Francis E. Barry Sr. In 1905 Peter passed away suddenly, leaving Mary and son Francis to depend on her brother James J. Cavanaugh for support. [3]
